Even sweeter music to the organizers ears is the confirmation that the license agreement for the event is signed, sealed, delivered and officially theirs. Beachdown really is set to be the best new music festival on the scene.
More main stage, big names will be confirmed in coming weeks but for now we can also confirm the following main acts: Brighton’s very own Maccabees, one of this year’s most hotly tipped artists Lightspeed Champion, social realists and one of the biggest breaking bands of last year Reverend and the Makers and the critically acclaimed Terry Callier. Other acts include Azymuth, Jah Wobble All-stars and Amp Fiddler.
From Friday 22nd – Monday 25th over the August Bank Holiday, Beachdown Festival will set up camp on the outskirts of Brighton, sprawling itself across the green, green grass of the South Downs.
The festival aims to be as carbon neutral as possible and will employ a number of energy saving and environmentally friendly tools. As well as shuttle buses running throughout the event to and from Brighton, the parking facilities will be located on and off site, so as to minimise disturbance and damage the natural environment of the south downs. Car parks will be utilised at the nearby Hickstead Showground and at Shoreham Airport, where buses will ferry festival goers from their car directly to their camp site in an effortless 15 minutes. This will also serve to eliminate the sheer agony of lugging camping equipment across hillsides, which will undoubtedly be further appreciated when nursing a post-festival sore head!
A limited number of day tickets will be on sale as well as weekend tickets. The festival will make room for a throng of music fans and festival goers, with a projected camping capacity of 11,000. A day pass will cost £30 and a full weekend pass will be the steal of the century priced at £85. However, if you’re quick you can get your mitts on a very limited number of early bird tickets priced at just £75. Go to www.beachdownfestival.com for more info!
The food stalls on site will offer locally sourced and organic menus, some of which will be offered by local brand name restaurants such as Pintxo People, and long standing Observer Food Monthly award winners, Terre a Terre.
