Joe Satriani Announces UK Tour Print E-mail

joe_satriani.jpgJoe Satriani, of rock music’s most renowned electric guitarists, will undertake a nine date UK tour starting Monday 12th May 2008 at Birmingham Symphony Hall.  Paul Gilbert will be special guest on all of Satriani’s UK concerts except for Nottingham Royal Centre on Wednesday May 21st.

Joe Satriani has been a worldwide guitar hero since his 1986 breakthrough album, ‘Surfing with the Alien’. Over 10-million albums and CD’s later, in addition to 13 Grammy nominations including this year for his latest studio release 'Super Colossal', Joe continues to push the envelope of modern rock guitar playing. Satriani is currently ranked as the 7th best electric guitar player in the world.

After releasing several critically acclaimed albums over 10 years, in 1996, Satriani and guitarist Steve Vai, embarked on the G3 guitar showcase tour, which became an annual event. By 2000, Satriani released the electronic album ‘Engines of Creation’ which earned him a Grammy nomination. Satriani went on to release his most recent live album ‘Satriani Live!’. A new studio album is expected to be released in 2008 to coincide with the UK tour.

Paul Gilbert, is recognised as brilliant guitar player – both as soloist and within the bands he is best known by. Gilbert first became known for his work with Racer X and went on to platinum success with Mr. Big who topped the pop charts in 1992 with the ballad "To Be with You." Mr. Big disbanded in 1996, and a year later Gilbert made his solo debut with King of Clubs; Flying Dog followed in 1998, trailed by Beehive Live in 1999, Alligator Farm in fall 2000 and Get Out Of My Yard in August 2006. Earlier this year, Gilbert joined Satriani and guitarist John Petrucci on the G3 2007 U.S. tour.
