It's small, hot, and half empty when Southampton's Pretty Trash hit the stage to open the night, but you wouldn't have none it watching frontman Krissi Kixx stomping around the stage, throwing himself around, and abusing the crowd in true rock n roll fashion. Playing to a mostly empty club is never easy, but Pretty Trash did a great job of getting the night going, and all being well you'll see them playing to bigger crowds in no time.

By the time the other local band hit the stage, the Joiners is rammed to the rafters. The Plastic Toys have built a huge local following and as they launch into their set, it's no wonder. They're tight, they look great, move like rockstars on stage, and know how to work the crowd, and you know what, their songs aren't bad either!

From their new single 'Let Me Feel The Love' to fist fucking anthem 'Dirty', the Toys have the crowd going crazy, arms in the air, screaming back at Jon Plastic, and the he loves it, revels in it, and it feeds the live performance. By the time the sets winding down with the majestic cover of 'Fever' you know you've witnessed a band that are about to be huge, and their fan base in Southampton are right there to help propell them there.

Spit Like This were on the rails before they even stepped on the stage. It was obvious that a fair few in tonight's crowd had seen what they were there for, and by the time the band hit the stage, it had thinned out quite noticeably, even if some of them had just adjourned to the bar. What separates an average band from a great band though is how they deal with situations like that. Spit Like This hit the stage to the hue of neon lights framing their amps, mannequins and sleaze. Launching headstrong into the set, it wasn't long before the room started to fill again. Rebel Love started it, and by the time they stormed into the bands anthemic cover of Richard O'Brien legendary Rocky Horror Classic 'Sweet Transvestite' the Joiners was screaming for more.

Moshers were throwing themselves around, and Vikki Spit seemed rather impressed. Out came the fake blood, Lord Zion simulated oral sex on Vikki, coated a sanitary towell in said fake blood and the crowd were so up for it, that one lucky fan proudly had it slapped onto his chest.

Spit Like This are a rock n roll band, but Spit Like This are also a stage spectacle, and the band seem to pride themselves on it. You don't just get songs when you see them live, you get all the paraphernalia that goes with it, fake blood, sprayed water, and more. That's why they're called a cult band, and their cover of Sweet Transvestite needs to be heard to be believed... Tim Curry has competition for the best rendition.
