Artist

Assemblage 23

Date

5th July

On July 5th Assemblage 23 performed at The Electrowerks, with free entry to the Slimelight afterwards. They played a long set which lasted around two hours and they seemed to play about three encores.

They started off a little slow but sounded like Assemblage 23 should, as the set progressed rapidly the crowd became more involved creating an atmosphere that made you want to join in and dance. The vocalist was animated and was enjoying the response of the fans and the audience. They didn't seem to want the show to end.

Assemblage 23 gave it their all - playing some classics and some newer tracks. The classics went down well and the singer asked the crowd for time for a couple more songs. When the set appeared to have ended they played another old classic and ended on a track that they said London fans had complained about missing out on with previous gigs. Overall this gig pleased it's audience, Assemblage 23 performed well and they didn't make any mistakes.

Before Assemblage 23 played, there were a couple of other performances, we managed to catch The Satanic Suts. After having heard good things about their performances at Download it was disappointing that this one didn't meet expectations.

They looked good and looked the part on stage but they didn't create very much of a stage show this time around. The vocalist didn't create a very impressive performance on the drum machine and they appeared to be playing four of their own tracks which all sounded quite similar. Having heard good things, the benefit of the doubt shall be given and hopefully future stage shows will better reflect their talents.
