The Tyne Bar is already firmly established as a venue on the Newcastle scene, but with a growing reputation for putting on superb all dayers it was no surprise that this Oxfam fund raiser was well attended by a crowd of eager young metal heads, all of whom were up for a party.
I only managed to catch the last two bands on the bill but it was certainly worth it and right from the off Drive By Audio had the crowd going wild.
With an infectious groove driven energetic and punchy sound, Drive By Audio create a mosh pit that chews you up and spits you out the other side, barely giving you a chance to get your breath before sucking you back in for another round. Based on this performance I will definitely be checking this band out more in future.
Perhaps the hottest property on the Newcastle scene right now, seeing We Are Knuckledragger live is like riding the rollercoaster from hell, whipping crowds up to a frenzy and laying waste to venues with some of the most powerful riffs you will ever hear.
Singer and lead guitarist Aran not only plays like a demon but roars like a caged beast, and together with his band mates Pete and Shaun on bass and drums produces a sonic wave of naked raw aggression that smacks you in the face.
Both bands on absolutely top form, the sheer ferocity on show is incredible and it’s hard to believe this is a small pub in Newcastle and not the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. This was one of those nights that in years to come I’ll be happy to say; “I was there!”.... SIMPLY AWESOME!
