Title
When You Were Shouting At The Devil... We Were In League With Satan
When Devin Townsend is involved we all take note. When a band claim to play "True Metal" it makes me want to go listen just to see how bad it could be. And when a band name their album 'When You Were Shouting At The Devil... We Were In League With Satan', I'm firing this motherfucker up loud.
So welcome to the fourth album from Canadian Quartet Zimmers Hole, and welcome to a new breed of brutal metal, that isn't death metal, and doesn't take itself too seriously, but that is going to kick your ass from here to kingdom come.
Zimmers Hole have put together an album that lacks nothing on the musical front, it doesn't compromise, it just pours down molten destruction in an unwavering aural assault, but couple it with lyrics tinged with humour, they poke fun at themselves, and at metal fans in general. But that's ok, because the music is that good, and they "rule the fucking world".
The real highlight here though is the drumming power of Gene Hoglan who by now everyone should know from Dethklok, it's his drums that propel this album on a straight ahead unwavering bloody assault. Couple that with the clean but stupidly aggressive vocals of The Heathen, and you've got something special.
This has everything I ever wanted in a death metal, everything I want in thrash, everything I'd want in true metal. Let's get fucking evil.
