If you like your rock of the classic variety, but also want to hear new bands, then Whitefire might just well be the one you've been looking for. This self titled EP is Whitefire's debut, and if this is anything to go on, the band have a big future ahead of them.
There's a very blues rock feel to the songs on this record, as you'd expect, and the 70's rock influences are undeniable, but what really gets the juices flowing here is that the music is solid, lyrically the band aren't half bad, and best of all their cover of Free's 'Wishing Well' is awesome, and well up there with one of the best covers of the song I've heard, and lets be honest here, there's been a lot!
While at times throughout the three songs on offer here, I get the feeling that the band will benefit from better production as they progress, there's nothing particularly wrong wrong with what's here, it maybe just lacks that last bit of crispness, and that will come as their popularity grows, and I'm sure it will.
Well worth picking up this one.
