Perhaps too many people have forgotten about the Tygers of Pan Tang over the years, but things are certainly starting to change with the bands EP last year, and now their brand new album 'Animal Instinct' which shows a band not just comfortable with itself, not just comfortable with their direction, but drooling at the mouth with a blues fueled classic rock album that the world has been crying out for.
Animal Instinct is going to appeal to long term fans of the band, but don't be fooled into thinking that this is just another old band trying to make a quick buck, it's not. The songs the Tygers present on the album show a contemporary take on the blues fueled rock 'n' roll sound, a sound that has a hard edge but without moving away from that basic tenant that they are a rock n roll band.
You've got some full steam ahead ass kickers here with the likes of 'Cry Sweet Freedom' and 'Bury The Hatchet', but the stand out track without any doubt is the more melodic 'Live For The Day' which shows off the remarkable array of talent at the bands disposal. While many might criticise guitarist Robb Weir's decision to reform the band - he is the only original member here - listening to the album itself will allay any fears you might have. Jacopo Meille is superb throughout on vocal duties, showing a true grit and power that leaves no doubt why he was brought into the fold.
Fire this album up, and listen to modern rock n roll done the old fashioned way. You won't regret it.
