Trash Pit Volume 1: New Breed Rising

Editor review

When a magazine spawns a record label, it is perhaps only a matter of time until a compilation album comes along. So what have the guys behind Trashpit given us? New Breed Rising aptly describes the idea behind this record, it's all about new and upcoming bands, some you may not have heard of, others you may well have had your head buried in the sand not to.

It's not a bad selection, mostly UK orientated, featuring the new single from Nottingham's Patchwork Grace in Soap, the awesome Blind Eye from Vamps N Gypsies that appeared on their self titled EP (which I personally think was the best track on that cd, and a close call with Soap as the best track on the compilation), and a taster from the upcoming Disarm album with the track 'By Any Means Necessary'.

Throw in tracks from New York's The Erotics, the sadly now defunct Red Light Rippers from Toronto, and Hollywood's Elegantly Wasted for that international feel, and you've got a decent cross section of what's new in hard rock.

It's a good taster for those new to a lot of these bands, and throw in a couple of exclusive tracks from Zen Motel and Red Light Rippers (Patchwork Grace's SOAP had not been released at the time this album launched and thus also counts as an exclusive) and you should get bang for your buck. Oh, and mine came with a free badge stuck to the front! Yes I love gimmicks!
