The EP seems to draw on various inspirations, at points sounding like it could have come from a more pop orientated background, only then to trip you up with some almost industrial sounding beats thrown in for good measure that wouldn't sound too out of place on for example a more mellow Ministry track. That's certainly the case on the EP's opening track Retroversity.
XXX - the albums second track - shows this change in style, a track that is much more pop rock, the samples and noise gone. Milena has a haunting voice, although a voice that is edged in pain, and that comes through loud and clear here. Interestingly, she sounds very reminiscent of the Naked Beggars Inga Brittingham, especially here, on of course a track with the same name as the Beggars latest album. Coincidence? Of course it is!
Shush have delivered an EP full of open ended promises, big licks, big ideas, and a glimpse through the looking glass that shows that they are ready to quietly go the distance, and might just be able to bring themselves to make enough noise to get there.
