Title
Two Thousand Eight Hundred

Sacred Mother Tongue's 'Two Thousand Eight Hundred' single gives us our first glimpse of the Northampton based rockers upcoming album which is due later this year, and it's an interesting first look as well.

The title track of the single combines elements of bands as varied as In Flames, Hammerfall, and even some resemblance to the lyrical rhythm that has made System of a Down famous the world over.

Now I'm not suggesting that Sacred Mother Tongue can instantly be compared in the same light as the bands I just mentioned, but it's certainly interesting to hear a band combining the riffing often associated with power metal and vocals that melt between the lyrically bouncing to an almost death growl, and then have them both going off at once.

The combination certainly works on the evidence of the two tracks here, whether it will work album wide is still to be seen, but things sound good right now. Just for kicks the band have also cut a video for the title track, which is also included here.

Keep an eye on these boys, and we might have a lot more to say about them a few months down the line when the album lands.
