Editor review
King Lizard hit us with both barrels with their EP 'Late Night Dynamite', and the self proclaimed 'London's Hardest Rock Band' are certainly aiming to take no prisoners.
Hyperbole aside, and we could throw a fair amount out there right now, are they any good? Thankfully as far as I'm concerned, 'Late Night Dynamite' is rammed full of 5 ass kicking slices of pure and unadulterated sleaze dripping hard rocking tunes.
This is Faster Pussycat out on a bender with GNR and loving every minute of it. And the Guns influence especially is here in droves, just fire up the EP's title track and you can almost hear Axl screaming along. Of course that could have been the undoing of this CD, but here it just works, Niro's wailing guitar a superb foil for the Axlness that frontman Flash slides in and out of, never staying there quite long enough to overstay the welcome.
The sheer dirtyness of 'Rock N' Roll Me' shows the band at their best though. It's a superb sing along track that almost has more in common with Southern Rock bands like Nashville Pussy. Awesome if you ask me, and it's when that dirty side of the band is out in force that they're at their best.
Bring on the debut album.
