Jaded Sun - Gypsy Trip

Jaded Sun have set out to record an atypical sleazy, blues inspired rock record with their debut effort 'Gypsy Trip', it's almost like they're trying to be The Quireboys for the new millennium.
Not sounding too good so far is it? It's probably not going to get a whole lot better from here on out either, because this, while being a solid CD, just leaves me sat here feeling cold. The obvious desire to replicate what bands like the Quireboys have already done is seemingly glaringly obvious, but what Jaded Sun seem to have missed is that they just don't come across with the same kind of passion.
Musical quality shines through, production shines through, all of this you can't even begin to knock. The songs themselves even aren't bad, and I can't really fault them either, although neither am I going to praise them. They just... are?
This album sits in mediocrity because it just doesn't inspire me to believe in the band, to believe that they believe, and to think that when I hit a venue to see them perform live that they are going to rock my socks off and leaving desperate to get home to bed with my girl, and do things that can't be printed here! They just don't that, yet they're trying to sell me a dirty, bluesy rock n roll album.
This is an average album, but perhaps performed by above average musicians. Keep an eye out down the road, and we'll see if these boys can come back with something better next time, because I think it might well be in there.
