London's JackViper have been busy telling the world that they are bringing sleazy rock n roll kicking and screaming into the 21st Century, and with Devil May Care, their debut single, a prelude from the bands upcoming EP.
It's sleazy for sure, it's trashy, and drips with the stench of a backstreet brothel. If you tried to compare them to LA Guns or Faster Pussycat you wouldn't be wrong, but you wouldn't be right either. 'Devil May Care' has a far harder edge than either, JackViper are from the new school of Buckcherry and Bullets and Octane.
The B Side '0800 Fuck You' pretty much sums it up, they don't give a fuck what you think, they don't give a fuck what anyone thinks, JackViper only give a fuck about going out, getting fucked up, and having a great fucking time. And yes, that was a lot of fucks.
If anything, the only thing that lets the single down is the production, and it's hard to say whether that's been done on purpose. If it's a purposeful deal, then the wall of noise with a guitar lower in the mix is great, if not... well the guitar seems oddly out of place the whole time.
Does that matter? Well that's down to you, but what the single does do is make you want to see these boys kicking it live, just to see if they can carry the 'Fuck You' live.
