Lightning Strikes Again

Sorely dissapointing.

Back in the 80's Dokken produced a catalogue of work which while being much loved by many a loyal fan , never saw this band achieve the long term success or status many of their peers still enjoy.

Many years after the infamous George Lynch affair broke up the most promising phase of the bands career, Dokken fans must be hoping to finally hear an album worthy of the name - but I'm afraid this ain't it.

While John Levin's guitar playing is perfectly good enough with one or two interesting solos and a couple of good riffs to be heard, on this album it sounds neither new or fresh and fails to excite.

I'm afraid no better can be said for Don Dokken's vocals, which on some tracks were just achingly poor.

As for the song writing - the dissapointment continues.

At best sounding like a collection of 2nd rate Scorpions album fillers and at worst - the painstakingly awful ballad "How I Miss Your Smile" - difficult to listen to and just plain shite.

There are a few ok tracks on here, most notably the ballad "I Remember", but they are so few and far between that I simply cannot recommend it.

MOO ! pmsbull
