Teesides Dirtii Gezturz have launched onto the scene in recent months, and now present us with their uncompromising debut EP 'This Scene'.
Dirtii Geszturz know what they want, and they've gone out and recorded four tracks of sleazy rock n roll that they can be proud of. All four tracks have a very retro feel to them, they're raw, they don't come across full of effects and editing. 'This Scene' is an attempt to sound real, believable, and they've succeeded extremely well, in fact it's possible that they've done too well.
Listen to the EP and you'll hear all kinds of influences in there, from Motley Crue to an almost Misfits punkesqueness (which is especially evident on the opening track 'This Scene (Aint Part Of Me), which truly helps to shape the EP, and to really give the band it's own identity.
What lets it down in my eyes though is mostly the quality of the recording. The cut down feel of it, while perhaps what the band where after, almost seems to lack oomph, to lack depth in the sound. It's a shame, but perhaps take that with a pinch of salt.
Whatever way you look at it, Dirtii Gezturz have arrived, and 'This Scene' gives enough of a taster of this new band that you're going to surely be hearing more about them over the coming months, oh and it comes in a cardboard sleeve that looks like a leather jacket, and yes I'm a glutton for gimmicks!
Lineup:
Smithy Lead Vocals, Guitar
Si Lead Guitar
Danni Danielz Bass, Backing Vocals
JJ Swain Drums, Backing Vocals
Track Listing: 1.This Scene (Ain't Part Of Me)2.Waster3.Looking Through Me4.Going Deep
