Title
| Not Everyone Gets A Happy Ending |
It's been three years in the making, and at various points along this rocky road, Die So Fluid could perhaps have been forgiven for thinking that their sophomore album 'Not Everyone Gets A Happy Ending' would never see the light of day. Thankfully for all concerned this is now academic with the release of the album on the Parole Records label.
It's hard to categorise the London trio, and that is the fist thing that really goes in their favour. There's a large metal feel to the album, but the band will fit in nicely among the more industrial orientated fans, and with bass/vocalist Grog's aggressive yet soothing voice cutting through the wall of noise at times, it's hard to put your finger on exactly what this album is all about.Listen to the bands first single off this new record, 'Existential Baby', and you can't fail to pull up comparisons to Nine Inch Nails or A Perfect Circle, and then get confused as you progress into the following track 'The Kiss And Then The Kick' which shares hardly any of these obvious influences, seemingly have more in kind with perhaps Courtney Love's Hole, another band that Die So Fluid claim influence from.
What remains consistent throughout however is the vocal talents of Grog. She looks the part in person, she sets you on the course to accept the darkly twisted conflagration of varying styles, and more importantly, she sings like an angel, before turning into the screaming banshee of legend as the music dictates.
The albums artwork deserves special mention as well. In an era where album art has become almost a forgotten art form, the band have created something spectacular and striking. Credit where credit is due, this album proves that album art can still be a highlight of an album, even if the majority of bands have forgotten that.
Die So Fluid are certainly a band that have the future at their feet, and having come through so many hardships already, you can't fail but think that they have the tools, drive, and ability to overcome any problems thrown in their way.
