Dannie Damien has certainly walked a long mile to get to the release of his debut album 'Have A Good Time', from Skavendark (who were apparently a Symphonic Pagan Black Metal band) to Italy's newest rising stars S.E.X. Department, who Damien is also no longer with. That journey brought him to this album, a somewhat classic melodic rock outing.

Damien is honest from the get go, he speaks in the liner notes of the fact that he never intended to sing on this album, and only circumstance forced him to take up the microphone along with the instruments here, and I can understand why. While he does a passable job, and in some bands might even sound decent, the music here is better than his voice, and it shows. The whole album has a very melodic blues feel to it, influences it would seem from the Dogs D'Amour certainly and maybe the Quireboys, and certainly with a nod to country music at times, if only in passing.

The end result, vocals set aside for a moment, is a very passable album, that will certainly appeal to the legions of fans of the likes of Toto, and no doubt as time goes on Damien will only improve. Musically it's great, production is a bit iffy at times, and as mentioned a new vocalist is needed, but you can't dent the heart, the desire, and the dedication that has brought this album about. Damien is serious, and if he can find a band that will work with him, he might well be a name to watch in the years to come.
