Oh Crimson Glory, what sweet music you make! It's like you stepped out of a timewarp, when metal was metal, when real men wore spandex, and Bruce Dickinson was a rock god. Oh it's sweet, it's tangy, it's probably dipped in the blood of a hundred virgins, but my god...
So we've established already that this debut EP is mightily fine, and yes, it really does harken back to the days of ye olde metal of yore. It's traditional, it's tight, it has screaming melodic guitars, a vocalist that can really sing... What did happen to all those bands anyway? Oh wait, they all started screaming, or rapping, or somewhere in between!
Crowning Glory are not one of those bands. They have more in common with the likes of early Maiden, Priest or much of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. This is good, solid, straight ahead proper metal, and it takes no prisoners, makes no excuses, just grabs you by the balls and won't let go.
My only complaint is that this is just an EP, with three studio, and two live tracks on here. Bring me a full album!
This is one metal band you want to keep your eye on.
