As a big Helloween fan, the announcement of Markus Grosskopf's Bassinvaders project was one I eagerly anticipated, and was certainly intrigued to listen to, with guitars completely absent apart from the bass.
So how does it sound? Well... not very good. I can see what Grosskopf was trying to do, and musically it's obviously somewhat unique in the metal world right now, but it just doesn't do it for me, and actually after you've listened to a few tracks, it really starts to grate on the nerves.
Vocals are also a huge problem on this disc, they're just not up to the level I wanted to expect, and lets just not say a whole lot about the version of Eagle Fly Free on here ok? Yeah it is that bad!
If your a bass player, or have an obsession with the instrument, then you will probably love this, it's full of a who's who of bass players, but coming from me, I just can't recommend it, although the artwork is quite nice...
