Badmouth - Badmouth

When it comes to Swedish bands you kind of know what you're going to get when you fire the disc up. You know roughly how it's going to sound, you know they're going to be somewhat accomplished musicians, it all goes with the territory. The real question you ask yourself is how it will compare to the really good stuff out there.
Its true what they say, you only ever get one chance to make a first impression and when Badmouth slams into your life with an utterly brilliant self titled debut its like running into the arms of your best mate that you haven't seen for years!
From beginning to end there is pure unfiltered rock 'n roll with Tom Pearson sounding like a young Don Dokken and his backline infusing the music full of ripping solos and catchy rhythms demonstrating some nice tricks and velvety licks.
The album kicks off with the track "Pedal to the Metal" and sports such catchy chorus of "Rock Down! Pedal to the Metal" 'cause I ain't got time to settle for nothing less" and I've got a genuine feeling that these boys are not going to settle for anything less than super-stardom, if there is any justice in this world they will be destined for greatness.
I think the best song, for me at least is "Cocaine Girl" which is a straight to the point, in your face, rock n roll track that leaves nothing to the imagination - I somehow related to this song and was singing along by the second chorus ....... its that perfectly written!
This is not metal, this is not AOR, this is not sleaze/glam, this is ROCK 'N ROLL!!
