Sweden is the home of sleaze rock now, Stockholm it's capital, and hailing out of this vibrant world come the Babylon Bombs, a band with the looks, the sound and the attitude to inspire any self respecting rock fan to dig out the cowboy boots, find their bandannas , grab a Jack Daniels and rock the night away.
The album kicks off with Jaded, but it's with the second track "Louder" that the real business begins. "We do it louder, harder, faster" sings frontman Dani, and I'm out of my chair, fist pumping the air in unison. The music conjures the magic of the seedy rock club that we love, the production superb while not losing the dirtyness that we want.
The Bombs pile through the album, swaggering like rock stars of old. The sound might not quite be the same, but the attitude reeks of equal parts Faster Pussycat and LA Guns, and I remember the first time I heard this and I couldn't believe that this was a new band, formed in 2001, but updating that 80's sound, and in some ways even improving it.
"I'll never be your Hometown Hero" starts the chorus of the song Hometown Hero, and the way these guys are going, I can't doubt it, they want to be known the world over, and they're not going to stop till they get there.
How can you doubt the credentials of a band who have been quoted on the subject of what they want to achieve with their music as saying "we want our audience to have a good time and a blast, just like we do"
