Make no mistake - the opening track to this album is an absolute stunner.
A sure-fire hit if ever I heard one, 'Mask' is an instant classic and had me salivating in anticipation of what was to come. I must have played it 20 times already and I'm still not bored.
Hearing the Slash-like hook line that sleazes it's way through 'Mask' immediately makes you sit up and pay closer attention to Pete Easthope's guitar work, which I have to say is quality at all times. His vocals ain't half bad either and handle well written lyrics with the presence of the best front men.
The other musicians who make up this Birmingham UK power trio - Phil Easthope on bass and Simon Cooper on drums - also build a solid impression of themselves throughout a heavily riff laden album which would not have been out classed by many of the NWOBHM had it been around at the time.
'Victim 13' jumps out of the speakers at you with an almost Iron Maiden like beginning that would not sound out of place on Number Of The Beast and about half way through moves into a bridge section that would have graced Nirvana, while the closing title song is right up there with some of the best UFO tracks.
The rest of this album contains a clutch of good songs that are well produced with good low down power to the sound, and as a backup to these standouts give this album all the heavy credential it needs to be a minor hit. A better cover would have been nice though.
With a new album due to be released sometime in 2008, expect big things from this band.
'Angel House' are one to watch.
