3 Headed Monster - 3 Headed Monster

3 Headed Monster don't have a singer. Yes it's true, now close your horrified mouth, and we shall move forward! These New England natives have made it their duty to find some way of combining on just one eight track album, influences that range from monster movies, to prog, to wrestling and then back through the long winded tunnels of power metal via the valley of death metal. Right you have no idea what they sound like do you? It's actually really pretty cool. A band write songs. They draw on styles of music that they like, in this case a pretty broad spectrum of the entire metal world. Then one day they sit down and realise something. In this case it was "Hey, you notice how we don't have a singer? No? Well, we don't... but it's ok, cause it's cool!" So, what do they do? They just keep going of course.
Listening to the bands debut self titled album is a journey to say the least, and one that is remarkably enjoyable. The first time through you're just not gonna have any idea what's coming up. Will the next track be a power metal opus like 'Perfect Plex' (a tribute to the late Curt Hennig, who, under his wrestling persona Mr Perfect in the WWF used the 'Perfect Plex' as his trademark move) that any number of European bands would have been proud to call their own? Or maybe it'll be like the more prog metal inspired like 'The Beast of Odo Island'? You see where this goes?
Take the trip, fight monsters, step into the ring, find out who drew number one in the Royal Rumble (and yes, the sounds of Howard Finkle announcing from a WWF ring brought back memories!), then sit back, and enjoy an instrumental album that has been magnificently crafted.
Reviewers Note: As can be seen from the scoring system below, 3 Headed Monster have broken the conventions on Komodo Rock by not having any lyrics! In this case I have scored them not on lyrics, but on the samples that have been added into their music. It seemed the best way really!
