Hitting the kind of notes that made Rob Halford famous (with almost embarrassing ease, I might add) Martin Mcmanus delivers a quite awesome vocal performance throughout. Joined by the multi-instrumental talents of Guy Laverick, (also a member of NWOBHM band Blitzkrieg) the pair formed a strong bond and very soon found themselves in the studio, writing and recording as a duo with Guy covering all instrumental responsibilities while Martin sang lead and backing vocals and worked on production.
The result is a slice of pure steel that draws obvious comparisons to the likes of Judas Priest and Saxon, and what’s more, could hold its head high in their company. Solid as a rock riffage and solos that soar effortlessly from your speakers are the order of the day on an exceptional debut CD that is sure to gather them new fans by the coach load.
Now expanded to a full 5 piece, with the current resurgence of interest in this type of band, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Chaos Asylum on the bill of a large European festival in the future. Judging by the effort put into this demo offering and their press pack, they certainly deserve it. Sweet cover too. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
