Homewreckers & Heartbreakers is by far the best album the Quireboys have released since A Bit Of What You Fancy. I've even conversed with someone who said he thought it was the best album the lads had ever done. I can't necessarily disagree with that assessment, but ABOWYF had such an impact on me at a young age that I'd have a hard time deciding which I liked more.
The first tune off this album that really stood out to me was Blackwater. That tune sounds like pure dyed in the wool southern rock which I love (the original Lynyrd Skynyrd is my favorite band of al time). The slide guitar work and the way it's structured really were different for the band. Just like on Well Oiled, I thought Black Mariah and This Is Rock N' Roll's Coldharbour Lane stood out. They seem to like throwing in a tune that stretches their sound a bit, but not too far.
Any time you get a new Quireboys album, you can be confident that you're getting pure rock n' roll evry time. I can't say enough good about them. They inspire me to this day and hope I get the opprotunity to see them live. - Marcus
