According to The New York Post, Ozzy Osbourne has filed against former bandmate Toni Iommi over the ownership of the name 'Black Sabbath' claiming that Iommi illegally took control of it when filing a patent with the US Patent Office.
The suit also alledges that Osbourne's "signature lead vocals" are largely responsable for the popularity of Black Sabbath, quoting the lack of popularity during his absence from 1980 through to 1996 as evidence.
Toni Iommi and Geezer Butler have in the past slated Osbourne's writing ability compared to that of current Heaven & Hell frontman Ronnie James Dio, with whom they have several European and North American concert dates scheduled later this year.
