London’s annual City Showcase event steps into action this week with the announcement of its 2010 search for the next wave of credible and emerging new talent. The annual event that has helped showcase artists, including Keane, Razorlight, Amy Winehouse, Newton Faulkner, Hot Chip, Scouting for Girls, Sway, Seth Lakeman, N-Dubz, Gurrumul, Lady Sovereign, Jay Sean, Mr Hudson and Ray LaMontagne, garnering them all a huge amount of both industry and media attention, is launching its annual search for next year¹s stars.
The 2010 London based three day music event will take place from 6- 8 May 2010 and promises to be the best yet and this credible event is determined to maintain its high standards in showcasing the cream of the crop.
Launching on 5 May with an outdoor stage in Gerrard Street; three nights at The Borderline, one at The 100 Club, Regent Street and Carnaby Street shops – with over 25 venues committed to date including three days of workshops in The Apple store, Regent Street.
Event Producer "Nanette Rigg " says "Following the success of the first ever outdoor rock show in London’s Chinatown in 2009 which received national coverage, including the 6 o’clock news, we are really pleased to be hosting another outside stage in Gerrard Street. We are also working on adding more stages in unique Central London locations to City Showcase’s growing portfolio and to consolidating City Showcase as London’s number 1 showcase for new music."
City Showcase provides public exposure, advice and mentoring, plus the crucial contacts that aspiring talent needs, and culminates in a series of live events in venues in London's West End giving musicians the opportunity to perform in West End stores and legendary venues such as the Borderline.
The event will also host a series of workshops and seminars at The Apple Store, Regent Street, bringing together aspiring talent along with the most influential figures in what is a much reshaped and refreshingly vibrant new music industry. City Showcase covers all types of music from electro to pop, from rock to urban. And all types of performers from bands to singer songwriters, from solo artists to DJ's. Any artists that want to showcase their work should send a cd demo with a MySpace link or weblink, a brief biography and a photo to City Showcase, PO Box 2212, RH20 2XJ. Clearly mark your envelope as a City Showcase application.
Alternatively, musicians may apply through www.sonicbids.com/cityshowcase.City Showcase submissions through Sonicbids are open to ALL artists and there is one tour slot exclusively reserved for a North American artist with a travel contribution from Sonicbids for the selected applicant.
