Following the spectacularly successful, totally sold out debut Bizarre Ball in October 2008, the world’s biggest alternative culture publication, Bizarre Magazine, has now announced a series of Bizarre LIVE! Club nights along with details of the second Bizarre Ball, the "biggest and best celebration of alternative life and culture ever seen in the UK", is confirmed for October 17th 2009 at SeOne Club, London Bridge, SE1 3QX.
Bizarre LIVE! events, a series of shows, will be taking place across the country. Like the Bizarre Ball, where the audience’s participation is as much of a spectacle as the onstage shows, Bizarre LIVE! gigs are more like parties, with various ‘Bizarre’ characters appearing onstage and in the audience, contributing to a unique ‘Bizarre community’ vibe, with the added bonus of a bunch of foot-stomping live bands to watch in between!
Bizarre LIVE! kicks off on July 23rd @ The Purple Turtle in Camden. Headlining the show are one of Bizarre’s favourite live acts, the magnificent MALEFICENT. The London-based freaks are led by Maleficent Martini and Mortimer Cain, whose agonising double vocals feel like a frenetic battle between the powers of good and evil, set to a backdrop of synth-driven industrial, progressive metal and sleazy rock’n’roll.
Opening the show will be one-man electronic nutjob KID CARPET, who says his music is “a bit like punk, a bit like disco and sorta like hip-hop, but I do it all with kids’ plastic toys, telephones, keyboards, Furbys, and anything else that makes a noise”. The show will also feature two star turns from the delectable MISSY MALONE, one of the most popular performers at the first Bizarre Ball in 2008. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the whole shebang will be presented by BIZARRE’S ALIX FOX, with a guest appearance by the EVIL DR BLACKTHORN. Tickets, priced £10.00, (plus £1 booking fee) are available now from bizarremag.com/live
The Second Bizarre Ball, on October 17th at SeOne Club, promises even more madness than last year. New this year - a ‘STEAMPUNK’ room, with a retrofuturistic Victoriana meets industrial theme and an expanded ‘DOMINATION CORNER’. LUCHA BRITANNIA, with their unique mix of British and Mexican Lucha Libre high flying wrestling, are back on board, as are the ‘awe-inspiring, jaw dropping, horrific and terrific’ CIRCUS OF HORRORS.
There will be a host of gorgeous burlesque dancers, terrifying freaks, titillating exotic erotic girls, gruesome cabaret artists and strange illusionists. But, most important of all is the audience – a glittering array of Mad Max extras, military men, dominatrices, monster mashers, psycho doctors, debauched metallers, corseted beauties, and numerous Bizarre Ultra Vixens and Vipers.
Tickets, priced £23 (early bird) and £28 are available via bizarremag.com/bizarreball Join bizarremag.com/yourbizarre for instant updates and communication. More details as we get ‘em.
