Eagle Records will release ZZ Top Live
From Texas on CD November 4. It is the soundtrack to the band's
first-ever live concert DVD (released June 24, 2008 as both a DVD and a
Blu-Ray), that became the #1 Music DVD in America.
A compendium of the entire ZZ career, Live
From Texas features 15 of the band's most beloved tracks—including
"Tush," "La Grange" and "Legs"—as recorded last year deep in the heart
of Texas. (Fans can expect the DVD and CD packaged exclusively together
November 4.)
Singer/guitarist/frontman Billy F Gibbons, bassist
Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard make up one of the most instantly
recognizable bands in rock history. From their 1969 Houston inception
to their first million-seller (1973's Tres Hombres) to today, they are
the only major band in history to never have had a personnel change in
almost a 40-year history. Known for their self-designed custom guitars
and their love of rural and urban American blues music and early
rock'n'roll, they're also primarily known as one of the greatest
American live bands of all-time.
Inducted into The
Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004, their no-frills blues'n'boogie,
filled with humorously sexual double-entendres, took a turn towards
mass appeal in 1981 when—after 12 years of adamantly refusing—they
finally used a synthesizer on El Loco. But it wasn't until 1983's
10-times-platinum Eliminator—with "Legs," "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and
"Sharp Dressed Man"—that they skyrocketed into superstardom. The album
just happened to coincide with the rise of MTV and the use of the music
video as a powerful tool in the industry. Their image has since been an
indelible part of popular culture. And they still rock just as hard as
ever, moogs or no moogs.
