Suicide Silence have been touring in support of the bands latest album 'The Cleansing' - which is out now via Century Media Records - landed in London at the Underworld in Camden for two nights alongside Parkway Drive.
Live photos from the bands set from Wednesday May 13th, the second night of the bands stay, can be found below.
Komodo Rock's Mike Elliott recently spoke with Suicide Silence drummer
Alex Lopez. Several excerpts from the interview are included below.
Mike Elliott: You're heading to the UK in March to tour with Behemoth. Are you looking forward to the tour?
Alex Lopez: Yes. Behemoth is one of my personal favorite bands to see
live. We are going to be sharing a bus with them for this European
tour, which is amazing. We once shared a bus with Sworn Enemy and had a
terrific time, so now we intend to continue that experience on into
Europe.
ME: What can fans expect? Fans can expect to see a very loud & energetic live show.
AL: We always put 110% into the live presentation of our music and we
make sure no one goes home in a bad mood (unless of course they want to
J).
ME: You'll be back again in May alongside Parkway Drive and Bury Your Dead?
AL: Yes we will. We’re looking forward to that very much; not only
playing with our good friends in BYD, but also performing alongside
Parkway Drive. They’re a solid band and we’re all excited to rock on
the same stage as them. This will be a tour for the younger crowd in
particular, and we’re anticipating quite a bit of fun.
ME: And in between those tours, you'll be heading across America with Nile. It's a busy time for you right now.
AL: I can safely say that Suicide Silence is as busy as we've ever
been, but not in a bad way of course. We love the fact that our agenda
is full. Touring with legendary bands is a great reason to be busy.
ME:
Your album "The Cleansing" is already out in the US, but will finally
see it's UK release in March. Can you tell us a bit more about the
album?
AL: The Cleansing was the first full length album anyone in Suicide
Silence has ever made. We put a lot of passion into writing those
songs. I was only in the band for a month before I had to start writing
new material with for the album. The music was recorded in a live &
my drums weren’t recorded to a click track. I’m not claiming that I’m a
human metronome; I’m just saying it’s all natural and captured on the
CD just like we wrote it. Those were our intentions from the beginning.
ME: On it's US release it came in at #94 on the Billboard 200. Were you surprised at how well it sold?
AL:Nowadays everything surprises me, but I’m truly grateful for people’s ability to like my band.
