On
September 6th & 7th 2008, British rock's favourite mini-fest
"Rock of Ages Fest", will explode with talent in the centre of
Birmingham with a mixture of Classic Rock and NWOBHM acts, including
a number of established bands.
After
the success of the first ever "Rock Of Ages Fest" in Tamworth in
2007 (which was headlined by Girlschool, ex-Iron Maiden vocalist
Blaze Bayley and Wolfsbane), things are really set to hot-up with the
announcement of Tygers Of Pan Tang, Blitzkrieg, Avenger, Gypsy
Pistoleros, Waysted, Steve Grimmet's "Grim Reaper", Psychowrath
(formerly 80's rock band "Wrathchild") and a wealth of other
talent. The event is once again raising money for the charity Cancer
Research UK.
Following
on from the sensational performance by Blaze Bayley and Wolfsbane at
"Rock Of Ages Fest 2007", the event will continue the Iron Maiden
link by opening the 2008 fest with the winner of the "Clive Aid"
events.
With
many of the bands chosen to play this year (including Avenger, Tygers
Of Pan Tang, Gypsy Pistoleros, Stairway, Daz Rigo) also releasing
high-profile albums between April and November, this is going to an
exciting event and will be an amazing weekend of blistering rock
music.
With
only 450 tickets available for the event, which takes place at
Birmingham's "The Asylum" (part of Madhouse Recording Studios),
it is going to be a jewel in the crown of British rock and metal this
year. Tickets will be sought after with a vengeance - and with the
ticket prices at a special advance-price of £10 (single day) and £20
(weekend) and on the door prices of £20 (single day) and £35
(weekend), this event will prove to be the best value for money event
in the calendar for Britain's festival goers!
The
full line-up includes... (Day One) Tygers Of Pan Tang (headliners),
Waysted, Avenger, Burn, The Gypsy Pistoleros, New Generation
Superstars, Tysondog (re-formed), Mr Fixit and the winner of Clive
Aid. Day Two will be co-headlined by Blitzkrieg, Stairway and Steve
Grimmet's "Grim Reaper", with Liquid Sky, Fury UK, Psychowrath,
Hanging Doll, Spiral Dive and Rock$tar rounding up the action from a
spectacular weekend, with two more bands yet to be announced!
Tickets
for this event can be purchased from www.ticketweb.co.uk
and are subject to a booking fee. The festival's myspace can be
located at www.myspace.com/rockofagesfest.
Only 450 tickets have been made available for this event and they are
on sale now, so it is highly recommended that punters buy sooner,
rather than later, to avoid disappointment as they are already
selling!
Plans
have already been set in motion for 2009's festival, which will be
accompanied with a huge marketing campaign and the event will be one
of the very first events to be held at the brand new "Barco 2"
building in Swansea, which holds 2,000 people - officially making
"Rock Of Ages Fest" a bigger event than even the likes of
Nottingham's "Firefest".
