Following their recent European Tour with Girlschool, Benedictum vocalist Veronica Freeman has been compiling an exlusive tour diary for Komodo Rock, and now presents the second installment, including some backstage video footage, and a whole host of photos from the bands dates in Germany.
Now we head back back to Germany where we hit Bochum, Hamburg, Koln, Magdeburg, Osnabruck, Jena and Munich before heading to Switzerland then back to Germany again. This trip of course would not be possible without our beloved driver and "merch guy" Chris. Now Chris likes to drive, Chris loves to drive, Chris loves to drive right up on top of the vehicle in front of him. We love Chris, Chris keeps us safe...( we tell ourselves that over and over as a survival tactic!) But you must know that we love him! Even if he can be a drill sergeant.
Things really change in Bochum because that is when the party really starts! Enter the V8 Wankers!! These dudes came to play and play hard. They work the crowd, work their asses off and basically kicked ass! From this point too we got to spend some time with Girlschool and finally started to stay at some of the same hotels. Benedictum will never be the same!! I have NEVER seen ANY women party like that and live!! We salute you sisters!!!!!!!!!!!! Enid, Denise, Kim and Jackie... you own us completely and we can't wait to see you again!!
Bochum was also special because DORO came by to say hello and that is always a plus!

Initial effects of Girlschool Corruption!

Hamburg... awesome sightseeing on the way and the crowd was awesome. Now to the hotel um.. .yeah that's right, the one right in the middle of the "red light district". The one with the blood stains and God knows what else on the walls yeah that one! Where else can you find a strip club, lap dance club, adult video store with a McDonald's right in between. My kind of town! After a night of sleeping with one eye open off we went.
From Hamburg we hit Koln...
... and Magdeburg.
By the time we got to Osnabruck we had our routine down, after the show we help CK with the merch, load the van and off we go. This night we got the ok to leave a bit early and get some much needed rest. Well no one told CK so there he was, by himself, loading merch in the pouring rain. He gets back to the hotel only to find that his key has the wrong # written on it. The key doesn't work for that room he was given, there is already someone in the room and no one at the front desk. Poor guy had to go up and down the halls until he found a key that would work only to find the people in the next room quite loudly engaged in uh lets say carnal pleasures. He was not amused and let us know about it in the morning.
In Jena we see this cool castle.. "Wow that is awesome!" turns out it is the actual club. No one could prepare us for the loading of equipment down the long, long long narrow flight of stairs.. DAMN! But the place was totally cool inside and out.
Munich was awesome because we got to hook up with our original keyboard player Chris Morgan who is living in Munich now so it was a total family reunion! More and more corruption ensued by the ever so beguiling members of Girlschool as we wove are way back and forth over Germany. More and more Jack Daniels and Jim Beam flowed through the veins of Benedictum at their bidding (God we love you GS!). I stuck with Enid she had her glass of wine at dinner, very civilized (but you know it's always the "civilized' ones you have to worry about ).

As you can see we are feeling NO PAIN! And that is what we needed after some of the things we had been through. But that is how it goes and we forge on.
Now on to Switzerland and back to Germany where we wrap things up... the party continues...
