slipknot_all_hope_is_gone_cover.jpgJam!Music reports that metalheads Slipknot had a tight hold at No. 1 on the Canadian album charts this week.

The Iowa band's fourth studio effort "All Hope Is Gone" hit the top on sales of over 20,000 copies, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

It marks their first No. 1 album here since 1999's "Iowa."

They also grabbed the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling 240,000 copies of "All Hope Is Gone" in the U.S.

Back here, not too far behind Slipknot was rapper The Game, whose album "LAX" (6,000) debuted at No. 2, which matches the No. 2 entry of his last album, 2006's "Doctor's Advocate."

The movement up top meant bad news for some -- the "Mamma Mia" soundtrack dropped from No. 2 to No. 3, the Jonas Brothers' "A Little Bit Longer" slipped from No. 1 to No. 4, Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" went from No. 3 to No. 5, and "NOW 13" sank from No. 4 to No. 6.
