laguns-phillversion.jpgSan Antonio's 210SA recently spoke with LA Guns drummer Steve Riley, covering among other things the way that the music industry has changed in the last twenty years, as well as the obvious situation with Tracii Gunns version of the band.

Several excerpts from the interview are included below.

210SA: Coming up as a young musician, did you ever envision the day when business would get in the way like it has?

Steve Riley: It's a drag it's turned out that way, but it's like that for a lot of bands. Legalities get in the way with a lot of bands. What's happening here is almost like a fiasco, and it's just stupid. The fact is that someone (Tracii Guns) quit a band, then put another one together, calling it L.A. Guns. It's so simple, it's not even funny.

210SA: What's the metal scene like today, compared with 20 years ago?

SR: I feel bad for bands today because they don't have a lot of elbow room at all. If you're a good hard rock band and do get signed, you only have one album to prove you're good. There's no more developing. It's over, and there's no more letting the first album settle in and work it.
