Monday, 21 July 2008

kidrock.jpgWENN reports that KID ROCK's new song ALL SUMMER LONG has topped the European singles chart giving the rocker his first ever mainstream number one.

The hit single toppled Estelle's American Boy from pole position; the singer/rapper slips to second place.

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks' duet with Chris Brown, No Air, is at three, while Welsh soul star Duffy's Mercy is at four, and Ne-Yo rounds out the top five with Closer.

Meanwhile, the top three in the European albums chart remains unchanged with Coldplay's Viva La Vida in first place, followed by Duffy's Rockferry and Amy Winehouse's Back To Black at numbers two and three respectively.

In other news, KID ROCK has been fined and sentenced to probation after pleading no contest in a battery lawsuit, following a fight in a Waffle House last year (07).

The star, real name Robert Richie, and five members of his entourage were arrested and charged with misdemeanour battery after an October (07) brawl in a Duluth, Georgia restaurant.

The rocker's sentence includes a $1,000 (£500) fine, one year probation, six anger management classes and 80 hours of community service.

After initially entering a not guilty plea in March (08), Richie admitted he was embarrassed by the brawl, and paid a visit to one of the restaurant's chains to greet fans at a Waffle House fundraiser.
